Overview

As International Operations Agent you will be responsible for the effective coordination, progress monitoring, and management of all communication related to the daily import and export of international freight‑forwarding shipments into and out of the United Kingdom. You will oversee shipment handling across all transportation modes - air, ocean, and surface - ensuring that all activities are carried out in line with customer requirements and the contractual agreements in place.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted‑advisor relationships with customers by advising, determining, and qualifying their shipping requirements, including all necessary regulations, certificates, and documentation
  • Prepare accurate and profitable quotations, provide end‑to‑end service recommendations, and ensure a consistently high level of customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate the full day‑to‑day handling of international import and export shipments across all transport modes, including order review, documentation, brokerage, and customs‑related processes
  • Plan shipping schedules and communicate with customers, carriers, ports, agents, and partners to verify loading, departures, arrivals, and overall shipment execution
  • Monitor shipment progress through proactive tracking and tracing, immediately address deviations, and resolve delays, damages, or issues in collaboration with customers
  • Manage all operational tasks including customer service, data entry, billing, invoicing, and adherence to customer SOPs, AIT KPIs, regulatory requirements, and end‑of‑month deadlines
  • Collaborate with local sales teams and internal departments to support communication, service quality, and accurate file closure, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards
  • Support continuous learning, assist with onboarding and cross‑training of team members, and perform additional duties as business needs require

Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years applied on the job and industry experience
  • CargoWise software experience a plus
  • Customer Focus: knowing the customer business needs and acting accordingly; proactively addresses customer concerns
  • Professional level oral & written English language skills
  • Problem Solving: Having the ability to identify problems and issues of varying complexities and find effective solutions, considering multiple sides of an issue
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures one’s own work are complete and accurate; monitors the quality of work, verifies information
  • Knowledge of raising and discharging of T1's would be an advantage
