Overview

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for creating, expanding, and managing an account base specifically within air and ocean freight services. You will identify and develop new business opportunities while executing a strategic field sales plan to drive revenue growth. This role requires strong market knowledge, proactive relationship-building, and the ability to present tailored freight solutions that meet diverse customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure new business opportunities in Air & Ocean Freight
  • Identify, engage, and establish long-term relationships with clients requiring international freight solutions
  • Design and execute a business plan to achieve sales targets and company revenue goals
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and international logistics teams to ensure seamless shipment management and customer satisfaction
  • Present customized air and ocean freight solutions that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness for clients
  • Conduct sales and negotiation meetings with prospective and existing customers
  • Handle customer correspondence and ensure timely responses
  • Prepare and present strategic documents, including offers, proposals, and industry insights
  • Plan, organize, and execute customer visits to strengthen business relations
  • Accurately record and maintain customer data in the CRM system for ongoing collaboration and reporting
  • Conduct regular review meetings to optimize business performance and service levels
  • Facilitate clear communication between Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Management teams
  • Perform additional business-related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional training
  • Additional certification or specialization in freight forwarding is preferred
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably within the air and ocean freight sector
  • Demonstrated expertise in international logistics, freight forwarding, and supply chain solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent oral and written English is required; Norwegian language skills are a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems independently
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and follow-up skills
  • Customer-focused approach with exceptional service orientation
  • Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability in a fast-paced industry
  • Willingness to travel frequently to meet customers and drive business growth
  • VGB security clearance (or the ability to obtain it) is required for this position
